I chipped a tooth. What are my options?
A chipped tooth does not usually warrant an immediate dental emergency appointment, but giving your Westwood dentist a call will allow us to book an evaluation to go over your options.
Of course, if your tooth is painful, cracked, broken, or split, we need to take care of you immediately. We treat dental emergencies on the same day, whenever possible.
We have three cosmetic dentistry options to repair chipped teeth.
#1 Cosmetic Dental Bonding
Dental bonding is a conservative cosmetic dental option that adds to your existing tooth structure using tooth-colored filling material called composite. Composite comes in a variety of shades to match your tooth perfectly.
#2 Porcelain Dental Veneers
A larger chip or fracture often requires more coverage than bonding provides. A porcelain veneer will cover the front of the tooth entirely. Veneers require more alterations to your tooth structure and are the most natural-looking option.
#3 Porcelain Dental Crown
For a tooth other than your top front teeth, which are most visible when you smile, a dental crown provides coverage and improves the shape of broken teeth. For posterior teeth that do most of the chewing, a dental crown will restore the appearance and add stability to compromised teeth.
