Sedation Dentistry

Millions of Americans have a fear of the dentist ranging from mild anxiety, to extreme fear. Having dental anxiety can keep you from seeking out the dental care you need to stay healthy and pain free. That is why our dentists at Trinity Dental Care decided to offer sedation dentistry as a tool to help our patients relax during treatment.

What Is Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation dentistry utilizes oral medication to assist our patients who have dental anxiety. Dr. Emil Labib will perform a full medical history to make sure that sedation dentistry will be safe and work for you. He will ensure there are no drug interactions or medical conditions that may complicate your treatment.

Once we determine you are a good candidate for sedation dentistry, we will administer your medication in our office at your appointment so that by the time your treatment begins, you will feel completely relaxed and comfortable.

During your appointment, we will monitor your vitals and make sure you stay sedated and relaxed while we work with you. Patients who undergo sedation dentistry report feeling completely relaxed, and most patients even doze off during treatment! When patients wake up after treatment, they feel rested and report little or no memory of their procedure.

Benefits of Sedation Dentistry

Sedation dentistry provides many benefits for our patients. The biggest benefit of sedation dentistry is that you will not feel any discomfort or anxiety during your procedure.

If you have a gag reflex that makes dental treatment difficult, sedation dentistry can help. Because it relaxes you completely, your gag reflex will also subside, making dental treatment possible.

Because sedation dentistry lasts for several hours, we can do as much treatment as possible during that time, allowing you to have more than one procedure, if necessary.

Patients needing multiple procedures and patients undergoing full smile makeovers appreciate sedation dentistry because they will likely have little or no memory of their procedures.

No one likes to feel tense and stressed, especially while having dental treatment. Our compassionate team, combined with sedation dentistry, will give you a relaxing, anxiety-free experience while you are with us.

Sedation Dentistry Aftercare

Because you will be on medication that will alter your ability to operate machinery, you will need someone to drive you to and from your dental appointment and to stay with you for the rest of the day.

We will go over your aftercare instructions before your sedation appointment so that you completely understand how to care for your new dentistry and what to expect during the healing process.
